In 1995, The Journal of Food Protection published a study about how powerful the antibacterial properties of hydrogen peroxide are. Due to the antibacterial properties in hydrogen peroxide, It is very much effective in eliminating bacteria. It is also a good option for treating body odor, since body odor is caused by bacteria.

How to use:
To use this for body odor simply take a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide and mix with a cup of water. With the use of a washcloth apply this to the part of your body that smells (like your armpit, feet, groin, etc). Let it sit for about 15 minutes before bathing with soap as you normally would.

2. TEA TREE OIL


In 2006, a review was published by clinical microbiology reviews recognising the potent antimicrobial and antiseptic properties of tea tree oil. And The International Journal of Dermatology supports this review.

How to use:
To use tea tree oil to get rid of body odor, you need to find a sealable bottle and pour in two tablespoons of water and two teaspoons of tea tree oil. Shake very well to mix.

Apply it on your smelly parts either by using a cotton pad or by pouring some on your hands and rubbing on the smelly part.

You may decide to rinse it off after allowing it to sit for at least about 30minutes. You can also decide to keep it on like you would for a regular deodorant.

3. LEMON 🍋

According to a study published by The Journal of Endourology. Lemon juice, when applied to the body, lowers the PH of the skin, thereby making it difficult for bacteria to survive. Due to the high amount of citric acid found in lemon, bacteria find it difficult to develop and survive if you apply lemon juice on your skin.

How to use:

To use lemon to get rid of body odor. Cut one lemon into slices and take a slice, rub it on the odorous part and allow it to sit for some couple of minutes to dry off. Wash it off and use your regular antiperspirant.

Another way to use lemon to get rid of body odor is by mixing lemon juice with baking soda and apply it on the sweaty areas of your body, leave for about 15 minutes and wash off.

To use sage to get ride of body odour. You should consider making a sage deodorant powder.

Get a sealable container, add 3 teaspoons of cornstarch and 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Then add 10 drops of sage oil. Cover the container and shake vigorously. Open the container after the powder must have settled. And your sage deodorant powder is ready to use. You can use on a daily basis for best results.

5. BAKING SODA MIXTURE

Baking soda can be used not just for cooking, but also helps in several ways to counter body odor – Either alone or mixed with other ingredients like lemon as mentioned above or mixed with cornstarch and lavender oil. Baking soda helps to regulate PH level and prevent acid build-up.

The mixture of these three ingredients (baking soda, cornstarch and lavender oil) helps to keep the skin dry and prevent the growth of body odor causing bacteria

Mix two teaspoons of baking soda, two teaspoons of cornstarch and 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Store the mixture in a dark place for some days and apply this mixture anytime you need to.

6. FENUGREEK TEA

Fenugreek seed is known for its antibacterial properties and helps in detoxifying our body by flushing out all the toxins from our body system. It also helps in preventing further spreading of body odor causing bacteria. You can take this tea every morning to detoxify your body.

How to use:

Add one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to a boiling (250ml) water until the water is reduced to half and drink this every morning on an empty stomach. This tea helps to treat the root cause of body odor.

7. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Apple cider vinegar is known for its acidic nature, hence it’s ability to kill and prevent bacteria including body odor causing bacteria.

How to use:

Apply apple cider vinegar on your underarms and other smelly parts of your body with the use of cotton ball. Or alternatively, you can make a deodorant by mixing half a cup of apple cider vinegar with one cup of water and use it as deodorant.
